Transform/Blanking Error Alarm

PostFri Apr 26, 2024 9:20 am

We often have to deal with clips that come from the edit with transform effects that do not fit the canvas perfectly and produce blanking issues in QC. Oftentimes, it's just a pixel line that does not fit perfectly and is not visible, but it is visible to automated QC.

Coming from Baselight, there is a neat feature called "Transform Alarm." It displays the underlying Alpha in a pink color, so at first glance, you will see if a clip does not match the canvas perfectly.

Since 18.2 I had to deal with stabilizations (Translation, Perspective and Similiarity) which produced a blanking issue. It was often just a pixel line, but that's enoigh to fail in automated QC.

+1

As a workaround what I tend to do is but a bright solid color clip underneath the clip with the transform so it really pops out.

It would be nice to have a toggle or something while doing transforms that gives you a visual cue or a high contrast difference between image and canvas.

In Version 18.6.4 your workaround does only work for Edit sizings, but not for Input Sizings. For some reason Resolve gives a black background.

Check that you have unmix deselected.

No, that doesn't help.
