insert clip without audio - edit page

PostThu Sep 12, 2019 1:26 pm

i'd like to have the ability to insert a clip (with for example 4 audio tracks) without the audio tracks, or a specific track of that clip, without using the mouse.

You can do that now. Shortcuts exist for toggling Auto Take.

Sorry I had the wrong tool. It's the Destination Selector, ALT+[Track #] for Video and CTL+ALT+[Track #] for audio are the default shortcuts.

CTL+ALT+2 will Insert/Overwrite on Audio2, for example.

I would pay money for a video showing that it actually works. Talking about footage with 2 or more embedded audio tracks.

The tracks that audio goes to are determined by the Destination Selection, the red outline around the track number. Those can be changed with the mouse or with shortcuts. It's working here in 16.1b3 for Windows.

Try it.

Hello,
To insert a video without audio, no matter how many audio tracks:
Place your clip in viewer. Make a in / out or not
Next
lock all audio track before inserting the clip (Alt+Shift+F9) after a point (IN and or out) or not
press (F9 or F10)

Without mouse : No?

this will not ripple the audio clips(inserting). instead it will overwrite them. but still sometimes useful i guess.

Oh my god.
i went to the IBC in amsterdam, after some experimenting there were 3 people from BM telling me that it was not possible. i just downloaded b3 but no change there. This is so weird.

Assuming you're on the Edit page, you can use the hotkeys for (Audio) Track Destination Selection and Insert to do this. My sequence of hotkeys was as follows:
⌘2 - switch to media pool,
cursor keys to select clip
JKL and I/O to mark insertion points.
⌥⌘1 - to turn off the red highlight on my audio selection
F9 - inserts the video
⌥⌘1 - to toggle the audio track back again.

(Editing to reflect that they symbols correspond to Ctrl+Alt+audio-track# as Jim observes)

I have a similar problem: If you need to insert or overwrite audio on a timeline that has fewer tracks (e.g. source 8x mono to 4x mono in timeline), the first 4 tracks for selected destination are inserted ok, but the remaining 4 tracks from the source (5-8 tracks) automatically creates new tracks on the timeline and inserts them.

This is the main reason I still use other editing apps. Resolve is really clunky in some areas and controlling which tracks one places on the timeline is very poor compared with Avid, Premiere or FCPX. If I choose V-only Resolve should NOT add extra audio tracks!

DaVinci Resolve still allows for dragging the icons shown below for video-only (or audio-only) inserts from the source viewer.

Right now there is no keyboard equivalent for turning off all audio edit insertions including auto-created tracks.

Ahhhh, now I get it.

I think those tracks will need to be disabled in Clip Attributes.
