Treat , and . as the same

PostWed Jan 29, 2020 7:47 pm

Is it possible for Davinci Resolve to treat , and . the same?
With my keyboard layout and language setup on windows the ". Del"-button on the numpad gives me a comma "," which Resolve doesn't want to except.

Is there any reason for it not except both , and .?
I'm happy with it showing . in all the boxes etc in Davinci, auto translate it or something.

Cheers, Rune.

Those keys are the +1/-1 frame trim functions. I vote for NO change to the current behaviour.

Rune is talking about the key in the numpad.
I would be happy if the comma in the numpad would be interpreted as decimal point.

Should have probably mentioned that I'm talking about when you click on a "textbox" to enter digits yourself.
It just need to interpret both:

11.5 (works)
and
11,5 (fails for me)

It's just annoying that I have to move my hand on the keyboard to press the period . button when there is a dedicated button for it on the numpad, but due to localization setup this button gives me a , instead of a .

You can change it in Windows.

True, but that will mess up everything else I use the computer for...

This is one of those things that probably should be standardized the world over.

The US should have made the switch to Metric mandatory in the 70's, rather than voluntary.

And the decimal point should everywhere be the decimal separator, and the comma the thousands separator.

(As most people are right handed, and as such shifting gears with the right hand make a LOT more sense, the world should always drive on the right, as well. But that's probably too much to hope for in my lifetime eh? ;) )
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

No need to wait for world standards when stuff can be handled in knob widget methods. It isn't rocket science to accept and convert either character to whatever the representation must be.
