Sort clips by mouse dragging in thumbnail view mode

PostMon Mar 09, 2020 4:58 pm

So we can put the clips in timeline in some logic order before editing. This is an important method to organize storyline in media pool.

Adobe recently added the Free Form bin view, which allows editors to arrange clips in any desired order, without reference to any specific parameter like name, duration, etc.

Such a Storyboard view would be a welcome addition to Resolve.

To make this effective, Storyboard view would have to completely ignore any sorting changes made in Icon or List views. Can't have all that arrangement work undone by resorting in other views.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

+1. Drag-able "user sort" order would be wonderful! PPro, Bridge, Vegas Pro, etc. have done this for years now. Just FYI :)

PS You can always sort as you like (clip name, date, etc.) and then switch back to "user sort" in the menu when you want. App keeps track.

+1.
Please add this feature!
I've been trying and loving your software for a few months and really don't want to go back to Avid Media Composer just because of Frame View (how it's called in Composer)...
And I might be force to due to my Directors need to see the clips in this flexible storyboard view.
It can't be that hard to implement, can it?

Please.
Thank you.

P.S.- (Even make it a part of just the Studio version if justified)

Just wanted to bump this feature to the forefront. I REALLY need this feature!
This would be great to add to the MEDIA, CUT and EDIT pages.

I just spoke with an Oscar winning editor and he said the same thing.

In dual screen mode the media pool can relatively small, especially with full screen timeline, and this comment should be paired with the ability to rearrange panels in a way to allow for a larger media pool in that mode to see the panels laid out in the desired fashion

A "user sort" in the BIN would be a great starting point to be able to create a storyboard. I guess many will be pleased with this feature.

Agree. This is one of those features that I would say is necessary to be considered professional software.
