Cross Dissolve - Change Transition Duration Popup Window

PostSun Apr 28, 2024 1:37 am

Hi Guys!

On the Edit page, when I right-click a Cross Dissolve/Fade on the Timeline, the popup incorrectly shows Time as the Number of Frames amount. For example, if the Cross Dissolve/Fade is 0.9 Seconds (54 Frames), this popup window shows the time duration as 00:00:00:54. And, what's even crazier is when I click between Time and Frames on this popup window, the Duration amount automatically decreases each time as Time or Frames is selected.

On another note, why can't the Audio Fade duration be changed to a different duration than the Video Dissolve? They're always linked/sync'd. Sometimes, I wish the audio to start a little quicker than the video on a Cross Dissolve/Fade.

I'm using Davinci Resolve Studio 19, Version 19.0B Build 20

Thanks!

I don't get any kind of Duration pop-up when I right click on a transition. I get a menu set including Start, End, Change, etc.

Hi Jim!

It's when I right-click on a Cross dissolve/fade on the timeline on the Edit Page.

@ Douglas
I can't reproduce that bug here, looks normal.
Regarding different timing, you can do that if audio and video are unlinked (the chain symbol):

Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Hi Guys!!!

Hey Uli, thanks for the tip on unlinking the audio/video! I'll try that. :)

I've attached a short video of me demonstrating the issues I'm seeing with the change transition duration popup for cross dissolve/fade. In it, the cross dissolve/fade is set to 0.9 seconds (54 frames). In the video, the popup initially shows "Time" Duration as 00:00:00:54. I understand :54 as representing the time in frames, but I wonder why it doesn't just say 0.9 seconds to mimic the time value shown in the Inspector? Then, I switch over to "Frame" Duration. It says 54, which is correct. Next, I switch back to "Time" Duration. It now says 00:00:00:27. Why did it change from 00:00:00:54 to 00:00:00:27? Next, I switch back to "Frame" Duration. It says 27. Then, when I switch back to "Time" Duration, it now says 00:00:00:13. Why did it change from 00:00:00:27 to 00:00:00:13?

I apologize for not explaining the issues more clearly in the first post, but do you see what I'm talking about?

Thanks for any help on this fellas! :-)

Not seeing that here. Please send a project export .drp of the project in your video, as well as a Resolve diagnostics log.

Holding "Alt" while pulling the edge of the transition lets you modify audio and video individually. If it's linked/synced. It works the same with the edges of the clip.

Hi Guys!!!

Here's something that I noticed. In the attached video, I'm stretching the Cross Dissolve/Fade Transition.

The Inspector for the Transition says Duration of 2.2 at the start while the tooltip on the transition says 2.06. After stretching the transition, the Inspector says 2.3, but the tooltip says 2.08. Why is there a difference between the inspector and tooltip durations?

The issue is related to interlaced video mode. With the default transition time of 1 second, no issue. Other times expose the issue. Dev team is aware. Not a 19 specific issue. Happens in 18.6.6 as well.

If you have a 59.94 interlace timeline, and you change the transition duration from the default 1 second, you should see the issue.
