from Apple's viewpoint they have to ask themselves:
what do we gain by licenceing to BMD? - guess the answer so far is "not enough"
what do we lose by licenceing to BMD? - guess the answer so far is "too much"
what do we gain by not licenceing to BMD? - guess the answer so far is "hardware sales"
what do we lose by not licenceing to BMD? - guess the answer so far is "nothing"

the decision to not licence drives sales of Apple hardware

How come they don't think like that towards VEGAS PRO and Fusion Studio?

They are 2 niche examples. Adobe is the huge mainstream Windows product range that stands out. Why has Premiere Pro had prores encoding since 2019, could the adobe licencing contract be the reason why Resolve doesn't have prores ?
Maybe BMD could have implemented Prores encoding years ago but won't pay the licencing fee that Adobe did, it doesn't make economic sense on a non subscription model.

This comes across as conjecture but is presented as factual. If you can share where you got this information that would be helpful.

This is just wishful thinking unless BMD confirms it. On the other hand I have read, from people actually having implemented official prores encoder to their software, that there is no license fee for prores encoder, it is free. One just has to align with the license agreement and allow validation of the implementation.

I don't know from where you are getting this info but just remember that adoption is what keeps tech alive.

And i really doubt it that PRORES alone is the thing that sells Apple hardware.

I heard Grant Petty wants BMD to be a company like Apple. The branch office in my area only has Macs; they won't validate on Windows. Windows-specific problems were ignored for a long time.

According to Peter Chamberlain in May 2019, BMD is in negotiations with Apple regarding support for Prores export and Prores RAW. But 5 years have passed since then.

Well… for me… I rather have Prores export (and prores RAW) in Linux without spending 30.000$ for a dongle (The panel is free).

For big facilities you have probably 20 panels but 50-60 machines and only few will have the prores dongle that EVERYONE IN THE INDUSTRY is asking about.

But yes, in windows is also welcome…
