Live Drone Footage into TVS?

PostSun Apr 23, 2017 10:57 am

I'd like to be able to feed live drone footage into my TVS but I'm not sure how. If you've figured this out, please share your setup.

A friend of mine has a drone that outputs live video to his android device. I thought we could try casting the stream from his device into Chromecast. The Chromecast would be connected to the TVS using a DAC70. If using an iPad I could try airplay into Apple TV connected to a DAC70. I've yet to try either.

We have done this several times using wireless HDMI transmitters of different brands and models. As long as your solution is able to output exactly the resolution and frame rate you are using, it works.

Marcus, can you be more specific on your setup? What was the input resolution on the TVS? What drone model and transmitter did you use? Did you use a upconverter such as the DAC70?

I'm guessing you connected the HDMI transmitter to the HDMI output on the drone controller.

We use the DJI Inspire for this!
On the 2nd remote we come out the hdmi to a dac-70.
Then we set the Dac-70 to what ever resolution the ATEM is using.
Then we just go HD-SDI from the Dac-70 to the ATEM then we have live drone footage to the switcher.
Works great for special events.
