PiP Composition of 7 Video Signals

PostFri May 26, 2017 2:07 pm

Hi,
i need to find a way to compose a 6 small PiP into a main camera signal. It's a lottery game and everyone of the 6 balls should have a close-up at the bottom of the main screen. I have an ATEM M/E PS 4k at disposal but was not able to include more than 3 PiP sources (2xUSK, 1xDSK).
Does someone have an idea how i could realize this composition with the least amount of equipment possible?
Note: we already had a SW solution via FFMPEG, but it was way too laggy and used too much CPU load

Thanks

Get a decimator multiviewer, preferably DMON-6S I suppose. Make all the pips in that (It can scale the windows for you), then put the HD-SDI output into the ATEM.
Create a black/white key signal with the PIP windows cut out (for in your internal media player) and make the DMON-6S's signal the fill.

Combine those 2 as key/fill and key them over your program signal.

Thanks for the answers!
The DMON multiviewer look interesting indeed, but as far as i've seen i cannot crop the image of the PiP.
We already have VMix for some other project, but our production servers run with Linux, so e would need another server just for the Screen Composition.

Another idea is a ATEM 2 with supersource. Has anyone experience with that and can tell me if it would work as i imagine?

You could use the DMON for scaling and do cropping with the key signal :)
After all, that decides what parts of the fill signal is being shown.
Infact, if you want them to appear one by one you just advance the key signals..
