Can you go black with VideoHub Control

PostThu Jan 25, 2018 12:20 am

Is there a way to set the desired destination outputs to a black screen with the Videohub Control software (or via RS-422)? Thanks in advance

Only by routing an Input to it that has black picture at the appropriate resolution/frame rate.

You could feed an Aux output from ATEM to the Hub to provide this.

If it is not a CleanSwitch there will still be a glitch when changing the output source.

Better to just use Aux to do the switching in ATEM rather than hub if it is a critical output you need to FTB on a live feed.

Thanks, Ian. That's what I thought about doing, if nothing else. I just didn't want to use up an input just for that. Unfortunately I bought the VideoHub on some bad information and am experiencing the glitch you mentioned when switching sources (when converting the output to HDMI). I didn't realize the VideoHub wasn't seamless and was told this is what I'd need :x

I have a Decimator MD-HX, I'll check and see if that maintains HDMI lock during the Videohub output glitch as I think it has an option to set a color when the input source is missing.

The decimator can hold sync and drop down to a set color when no signal is present. ;)

Mine is often set to green  As that clearly indicates the Decimator has no signal.. Blue or Black can be easily overlooked if you have troubles in your video chain..

But black can be handy if you use it for these purposes..

Thanks for the information about the Decimator. Fortunately I was able to return the Smarthub and order the Cleanswitch, so that would work. Thanks for your help

Hi, can you confirm if unused inputs on the 12x12 Cleanswitch generate black? In theory they could because there's a frame sync on them but it's not in the manual. Thanks.

No they don't definitly!

We had the need for a black input too and tried that with the 12x12 cleanswitch (input with nothing plugged in). That doesn't work. You need to really feed a black video signal to that port in the right format to get a black input. We did that with a decklink card that we didn't use in a PC that generated black.

Cheers

Robert
