Powering Hyperdeck Mini from POE

PostSun Jun 17, 2018 4:57 am

I have a job coming up shortly where I need to record a 4K camera and there is no local power.
So I want to record on a Hyperdeck Mini powering it via the POE using the ethernet port.
I have a POE injector but I don't know the voltage I need to feed the Hyperdeck and make it work reliably.
I don't want to blow it up by experimenting!

Any one tried this successfully?

as long as you supply power matching the POE+ spec (802.3at - 30W), the HDmini will power and works fine. i use switches that support the 802.3at POE+ spec. if you use the regular POE spec (802.3af - 15W) the mini will not power up.

haven't tried any type of mid-span power injector so no data for that setup...

So I have to find a battery pack of between 44 Vdc and 57 Vdc?
