Help with Multiview 4HD

PostTue Nov 20, 2018 8:27 am

I am using the new Multiview 4 HD as part of a signal flow - the objective is to take 4 cameras via SDI into my laptop as a single 4 way split signal. So to explain further -

4 x cameras -> 4 x SDI cable -> Multiview 4HD -> SDI cable -> Ultra studio mini recorder -> thunderbolt
into PC Laptop.

I would then use software to 'slice' the 4 camera images apart and layer as one canvas. This part is not important. The important part is that I can't get MultiView HD4 to work. Ultra studio mini recorder is recognised
by my laptop, and if I plug a single camera directly into this, I get a working camera image on my laptop.

I have tested cables separately. The issue is the multiview is not talking to either the USmini recorder or the laptop.. When I plugged multiview into a monitor, I got static, and only when we stepped signal down to HD
did we get an image. I didn't see an image using SDI.

What am I doing incorrectly here? Is there a special driver for multiview? In theory, it should just work. The signal coming out of the multiview should work with USmini recorder and then into the laptop.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Sounds like the output setting of the Multiview are not a format that can be seen by the capture device. Connect it via USB to the computer with the Multiview software installed and opened and you can make the changes to the Multiview output.

Thank you Tony - Stupid question, where is the multiview software? I find it a little difficult navigating the driver/software downloads on BM.

You'll find the versions of the Multiview software available on the support page.

Hi,

The Ultrastudio Mini can only accept 1080p25 or 1080i50 / or 1080p29.97 or 1080i59.94.
It cannot accept 1080p50 / 1080p60 (For that you'd need the Ultrastudio HD Mini).
You might have to change the settings on the Multiview, as suggested before.

Also, you are aware, that in your slicing workflow you end up with 4 tracks of 960x540.
If you needed 4 streams of HD in the end, you'd need to upgrade your chain to a Multiview4 and an Ultrastudio 4K (but would be limited to 2160p25/p30 again).

Cheers,
Daniel
