Graphics help on Atem 2 m/e Production studio 4k

PostThu Jan 24, 2019 10:19 am

I have just purchased an Atem 2 m/e Production studio 4k and I am slowly working out all the ins and outs of the system.

However, I have a potential job coming up streaming a football match so will be needing a scoreboard with a clock that counts up to 90 mins. Obviously this is not doable with the photoshop plugin and 720 frames on the media player will not hold the clock. Whats the simplest way we can do this? preferably free if possible and not requiring lots of extra equipment

Thanks

You will need an external computer running a graphics software. You can get away with a hdmi output from your computer if you can set the hdmi output to the resolution that you are running on your switcher. You will need a hdmi-sdi converter, with scaler if you cannot set the resolution to match the switcher. Two options of scalers, Decimator md-hx are my suggestion but you can also use Black Magic up/down/cross HD.

One software to use are: https://www.live-score-app.com

Good luck, Hakan.

Okay great, thanks for the info. Will have a look into it

Next question, is there a way to get a clean feed without all DSK and USKs as well? Only found how to do it without DSKs so far

You can also try SuiteCG MultiSport Scoreboard, which offers an entire graphics package for soccer. You can check it out here: https://suitecg.com/multisport-scoreboard/. The program is free to download but all the data outputs are scrambled until you activate a license.

This would connect to the ATEM via HDMI from your computer, but requires the free NDI Studio Monitor (which is part of NDI Tools) from Newtek to display the SuiteCG NDI feed in your extended display. That can be found here: https://www.newtek.com/ndi/tools/

The user interface for football/soccer is still being developed, but the generic user interface still provides all the features for soccer. We will soon also be adding team rosters so you can display player lower thirds during the game.

Tutorials can be found in the knowledgebase, which is also still a work in progress: https://suitecg.com/knowledge-base/?top-category=multisport-scoreboard

You can also do this with PowerPoint. The SimpleSupers.com app allows you to use PowerPoint as a character generator. It lets you use key and fill by generating an alpha channel with PowerPoint. Use in your DSK or Upstream keyers. Build your slides with your custom countdown. There are tutorials on this, or other apps you can buy that do this in PowerPoint.

As far as the Clean Feeds, I believe this only affects the DSK, not Upstream keyer. Clean Feed 1 removes both DSK 1 & 2. Clean Feed 2 only removes DSK 1.

DSK 2 is the top foremost keyer.

Good luck,
kc
