Camera and COM assistance

Hello,

We have a BM Pocket Cinema 4k and also a BM Video Assist 4k 7" HDMI/6G-SDI Recording Monitor looking to use this as a stage cam for our weekend services. We also have an HDMI to SDI converter box to bypass the recording monitor but I don't believe HDMI runs both video and COM.

Our main set up is 2 BM Studio Camera 4k units, all of this going into a BM ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K Live Production Switcher. We have 2 HD/SDI lines one that passes video and one that passes COM from the switcher running to each camera.

We have 2 HD/SDI lines run to the stage, one for video and one line for COM. Is there a way to get any form of COM into the Video Assist Monitor or to the Pocket Cinema, even if it's just one way from the director?

If your monitor supports 16 channels of audio over SDI, you could monitor 15+16 which is where I believe the talkback happens. It would be embedded in the PGM feed which is actually perfect because then you have return as well.

Alternately, have your operator clip a Micro4k to her belt like a com pack, problem solved.

The VideoAssist does not support 16 channels audio.

If you take a Micro Studio 4K then you would not need that Pocket 4K at all. ;) ;)

Another way is to get a BMD Audio De-Embedder. Set it to De-Embed channel 15-16. Then add a headphone amplifier to the de-embedder. Now you can hear the Director. ;)
