Multiple issues with Web Presenter and Micro Converter

Hello fine folks!

We've just dropped some money on some Black Magic gear to up our streaming game but having some frustrating issues getting it working the way we want it to, but I'm sure there must be a way. Really hoping someone can help.

tl:dr - Can't get two GoPros to run at the same frame rate over HDMI and SDI with the HDMI to SDI micro converter and can't get the micro converter to come up in the update software to check if it needs updated.

This is what we're looking to run, and it MOSTLY works.

We have two GoPro Hero Black 7s
Black Magic Web Presenter with the panel on front
HDMI to SDI micro converter

GoPro 1 directly into HDMI on the Web Presenter comes through at 1080p50, regardless of the settings on the GoPro, which I read seems to be standard for the GoPro, which is fine, we can work with that.

GoPro 2 into HDMI - SDI micro converter into the Web Presenter comes through at 1080p25 regardless of the settings on the GoPro, which seems to be stepping the frame rate down. I can't see anything saying the micro converter does this, so thought that was odd. The specs say it should be handling it fine.

Tried swapping the cameras and cables around, checked all the settings on both were the same, but regardless of which one is plugged into which connection, the HDMI signal is always 1080p50 and the SDI signal is always 1080p25. So can't get any smooth transitions between the two.

I tried running a normal camcorder into the HDMI - SDI converter and it comes through to the Web Presenter at 1080p50. It seems like it's only the GoPro signals that are being changed down to 25, and there's no apparent way to change the HDMI feed down to match it.

The next issue is, I thought maybe the MicroConverter maybe needed a software update, so I got the Converters Setup software and it just keeps saying "No converters found - Check that your converter is connected properly". Tried it on my Macbook Pro, a Macbook Air, a Windows Surface and a full blown desktop PC and none of them recognise that the converter is plugged in via USB.

It's frustrating because it doesn't seem like we're trying to do anything outrageous. Can get a DSLR on HDMI and a GoPro on SDI both running at 1080p25 which lets us transition smoothly, but the DSLR video signal is a little slower than the GoPros so they don't both sync up with the audio input.

Anyway, big read, sorry! I hope someone has tackled this before, I couldn't really find anything through the search though.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi all,

Just finished getting this sorted.

Turns out the issue with the converter was solved with updating the converter.

But you may remember I couldn't update the converter? Well turns out the USB cable I was using was a charge only cable and not a charge and sync cable.

So a quick trip to Kmart fixed that and now the converter is up to date and both GoPro cameras are feeding through at 1080p50 and can transition smoothly!

Hopefully if this comes up for anyone else this solution will help them out.

Cheers.
