Atem Mini - Basic Questions

Brand new to camera switching, video capture, streaming etc... Looking for advice.

Trying to outfit my son with decent gear to start his own Twitch channel.

He plays with a Nintendo Switch and from what I've read, is that he will need a capture device like an Elgato HD60 to take the HDMI output from the Switch and convert it into a stream the PC understands. Would the Atem mini remove the need for the Elgato capture card?

Are you able to connect condenser mic's directly to the Atem Mini? Does it provide phantom power? It shows two direct mic inputs, so I'm looking for options for a good podcasting/ streaming mic.

yes, you'd connect the switch to the atem mini, possibly via a splitter.
then connect the atem mini to the PC with an appropriate USB3 cable.
you'll need OBS or similar software to create and submit to twitch

Mrtravis : No .. Atem mini cannot send phantom power .. U can use dynamic microphones or any phantom power between condenser MIC and ATEM MINI ..

the splitter was to take care of HDMI "broken by design" issues

You can buy phantom power injectors for not much money if you’re really keen to use condensers (or already have them).
