Micro Studio Cams Timecode

PostMon Sep 21, 2020 1:49 am

Is there any way to pass external timecode (from my 4 M/E switcher) through the Micro 4/3 Studio cameras to an external attached recorder (Atomos Inferno, in my case)?

If you connect a return feed from ATEM program or aux output to the camera input, it will pass the ATEM timecode on the camera sdi out (there is a reference source setting in the camera menu, set to input to genlock multiple cameras so timecode should be frame accurate).
Running the latest camera and atem firmware is advisable.
You can also set the atem timecode in the 8.x firmware versions.

Isn't it simpler to record the Aux output? Sending timecode back up the pipe doesn't serve any purpose as it's going to get stripped by the switcher just like it did the first time through.

Good Luck

Depends on how many camera and aux ports you have.
By using return feed, one atem output can feed timecode to all cameras and then you can iso record each camera by having recorders in front of each atem input. I do this with ursa broadcast' and micro studios.
