Do I need an ethernet connection?

Hello to all. I just received my ATEM Television Studio Pro HD. I love the product but am very confused how to access the software on my iMac Pro. Current setup. I have my Panasonic AG CX 10 connected to the ATEM via SDI looks great on the HDMI monitor. The program out SDI is feeding an AJA UTap that feeds my iMac Pro via USB / USB-C cable. Then I am using OBS software to feed Facebook Live. Looks great, no problems. But here is where this old school editor gets confused. I need to launch the ATEM software to load graphics into the system. Do I need a network connection? I have the USB cable connecting the ATEM to the iMacPro.Why do I need an ethernet connection between the two? Since I only have one ethernet port on my iMac, I can't give that up since that is how I connect to my network. Please help. I am soooo confused.
