SD output TVS

PostThu Oct 10, 2013 4:14 pm

Hi, I usually use a 1me but am hiring a TVS for a small job. I will work in 1080i50 but need also to send an SD feed. I need the feed to be 4:3 and on the 1/me I can get a full screen cropped image (I lose the edges of the wide screen- this is center cut right?). Anyway when I look at the docs for the TVS it is unclear whether it can do this, can anyone answer if it can?

Cheers

The tvs does not downconvert I am afraid so you will not be able to do this without an external converter

Please tell us the result.

In functional diagram of "SDi to analog coverter", there is a "10 bit HD to SD downconverter". In functional diagram of "SDI to HDMI converter", there is only a "cutomizable video processor".....

What is the difference ?

I have to confirm it actually exists but it is in the manual.

The above link from the manual says sdi to analogue and 'hdmi to sdi' not 'sdi to hdmi'
the first part of my real name is Mr B. if that's not enough for bmd, please cancel my registration to this site. then i will re-register with a new email and fake name anyway.

When using a TVS I sent the HDMI output to an HDMI to composite video converter that was about £21 on eBay (which I used to feed reverse video to Skype via Easycaps), but it wasn't cropped so ended up tall and thin at the far end!
What's your 4:3 video feed for?

Sorry mistyped, I have the 'hdmi to sdi' and 'sdi to hdmi'.

The 4:3 is to fit in with an existing broadcast setup, I don't get to choose, it is for an art project and they need 4:3 to project and broadcast for aesthetics, no technical reason.
