HELP Broadcast from a Church

PostMon Oct 01, 2012 4:19 pm

Hello everyone,

I search for a solution to broadcast from a church in Bruxelles with 2 cameras, near future 3.

We search for equipement and solution.

We have a room from where will be controled. Distance betwen room and cameras is 150 m.

We wanna transmit from cameras to switcher with optical cables.

If someone can help us please answer to this post.

What you do depends on what equipment you already have and what your budget is. We use three robotic Sony cameras and two Sony NX5's. These all have SDI output and feed into an ATEM 2 M/E switcher. Optical cables seems like overkill to me as SDI can carry an excellent signal for substantial distances with very little latency.

if your cam is sd then coax will be fine over 150 meters ... if hd either 1080 or 720 you will struggle to get 150 meters in fact 100 meters is limit per smpte standards ...

you are right to look fiber ... and what you choose to do that depends on what you need at the camera ... do you need remote paint, tally, audio, return video, etc etc? or do you just need the video signal ... if so bmd, aja, telecast, miranda, atlona, gefen, kramer all make many small form factor sdi over fiber devices ...

Thank you for your quick answer.

For the moment we have 2 cameras, and we already do the transmition with an analogic switcher.

The 2 cameras are sony hd cam, but small ones. something like HDR-CX190 from Sony.

Tomorow i will take some pictures, i will draw a schematic and i will upload them here.

Just for the record we wanna something betwen 3000 $ and 5000 $.
We have a streaming server online payed/month.

Look at the Telecast copperhead 3200 for fiber optics cable.
Our tally lights will work at the camera with the Copperhead 3200.
