ATEM TVS Inputs and outputs

PostThu Oct 24, 2013 5:43 pm

Hello ! I´m from Argentina. I have an ATEM Television Studio and I need to know if I can use SDI cameras as input, and use the HDMI Program Output to send to a capture card (Intensity Pro).
Is the HDMI Program output working, no matter what cameras I use ?
Thanks!

Yes. Both SDI and HDMI program outputs are active all the time. Remember the Camera video resolution and frame rate must all be the same as the ATEM resolution and frame rate as defined in the setup.

And also remember, that TVS has two SDI-inputs and two switchable between SDI and HDMI. Two inputs are only HDMI. So the maximum of connectable SDI inputs (without using converters) is four.

Yes. SDI and HDMI both have support for embedded audio.

ATEM doesn't allow you to mix formats, so you can't put 1080i and 1080p together. Not to mention that the TVS doesn't support 1080p anyways. The converter only seems to say that it will output 720p or 1080p, so in either case it isn't going to work with your camera formats. (This is one reason I love my TriCaster!)

You will have the same issue with the camera that supports the 1080p60 output. You will have to run the camera instead in 1080i mode (which is running at 30fps) to make it work.

The 30fps 1080i is really the same as 60fps 1080i. 30x2 interlaced frames per second = 60fps.

However of course 60fps 1080i cannot really be compared to 1080p60

And...of course all this is oddly confusing...especially when mostly what we really mean is 29.97 and 59.94 fps.
