DVI extender with resolution 1920x1080

PostThu Oct 04, 2012 11:49 am

Dear all, we just got some DVI extenders we want to use together with HDLink to work as long range DVI extension. We are using 1920x1080 monitors and Nvidia 7200 DualHead VGA card.
It seems, that DVI extender, running in video mode (FW version 1.9.1) can generate only 24Hz or 25Hz interlaced. All other options (30Hz Interlaced, 50Hz or 60Hz) seems to to be generating any output. This was tested with HDLink as well as other SDI monitor. Quality on 24 or 25Hz is very poor. And when we switch this device to Extender mode it cannot support 1920x1080 format at all. 1920x1200 resolution in HDLink mode works well, but we cannot use it on our monitors.

It seems to me, that there is some bug preventing this format to be generated as Video mode SDI in higher frequency. Also, why not to add 1920x1080 format to extender mode - you already have lot of normal monitors with this format and should be no problem for HDlink to handle that.

You should check with the supplier to see what is causing these issues. I have used several of KVMSwitchTech's DVI Extender and HDMI Extender solutions for digital signage applications and they support 1080p video resolution without any issues.
