Multiview 4 SDI Loop latency

PostFri Mar 15, 2024 5:07 am

Hi Team, Bit of a nitty gritty question for you all!
I am looking at feeding my camera signals through a BMD Multiview 4 unit to monitor them. Previously I have fed the multi viewers via outputs on my matrix but I am running out of matrix outputs!

My only concern is about delay. Are the SDI loops on the Multiview 4 true loop-throughs without any latency added to the signal (well... as much latency as it takes for the electrons to get from the input to output) or are the 'loops' actually processed by the multi viewer and therefore introduce latency?

Regards
Cal

Hi all, Just to immediately provide an update. The local Australian Distributor of Blackmagic has replied to my support ticket advising that Blackmagic has confirmed for him the loop ports have 'no latency' on the loop outputs. Happy to hear if anyone has found this is not the case.

Thought I'd better reply here in case someone stumbles upon this in a few months via Google etc.

Yes we are using Multiview 4 and its real loop outputs .. No delay there ..
