I.P addresses for TV studio setup

PostThu Apr 04, 2024 7:29 pm

I am looking for some advice guidance on setting static ip addresses and ranges for the studio set up that I am about to install. Looking at some of the equipment manuals I have spotted examples of different subnets and gate way ranges. I have spotted some posts on the forum about Hyperdeck IP’s not being retaining by the ATEM, is that correct.
I have quite a number of items that I want to be able to easily access through the studios own network (have a 16 port switch ready to use). Can I get some advice on what works well and what to avoid? Any examples of what is working well for other users would be appreciated.
If you look at my signature I have listed then kit that I will be installing (3 x Ultimattes and 3x Hyperdecks). Cheers

If u have small network , that its up to you ..
i preffer 10.*.*.* networks , because 192.168.*.* is mostly used as default adress for routers/lans..

So for example u can use 10.0.0.1 for your router .. netmask 255.255.255.0
Setup dhcp to 10.0.0.100-10.0.0.230

And select adresses from 2 to 99 for yours bmd hardwares ..

For example :

10 switcher
11 panel
15 videohub
21, 22, 23 ,… for cameras
Etc etc

Cheers for the advice. The switch I’m using is a none managed one so nothing to do there except turn off dhcp. What about the gateway address can I just leave at 0.0.0.0?

Yes, as long as you don't need to access anything outside of the subnet you are using.

If the switch is being interconnected with any other networks, make sure the subnet you choose is unique.
