atem 4k 1me sdi output

does the downconverted output on the 4k line output sd if the switcher is in 1080i or 720p or even 1080p ?? we won't and don't have a use yet for 4k content however the additional sdi inputs and more professional xlr in's outs, front monitor and touch buttons make it a very appealing box as compared to the older 1me, however the need to send out a sd sdi signal is very real many times, or even analog composite ... most often to in house rf modulators at many venues that are still sd, so the 1me is nice for those things ...

I have been looking around i haven't seen the answer to this question yet i read the manual and it doesn't say specifically one way or another, i fear the down convert is only a feature from 4k to hd ... can someone with a unit confirm??

If not is this something that could be added in a firmware update ... if running in 720 or 1080i/p down-convert is sd ... getting from sd to analog isn't as big of a concern an external box can do that and we most def have plenty of those lying around from yesteryear!

i'm sure the processing power is there if you can get from 4k to hd ... and do you get to chose which flavor of hd you want ?? 1080i, 1080p, 720p hmmmmm just added another question !!

On every switcher before the 4k line, the downconverted output was always SD-SDI. I've never used the 4K versions myself but in 1080 or 720 mode they should still be outputing SD-SDI

I'm pretty sure that it's only downconverting from 4K to HD 1080i.
The back of the switchers pgmoutput 3 (downconverted) are only labeled HD and also this text from the tech spec:
Down Converted SDI Program Output
1 x 10-bit (Ultra HD 4K to HD).

i've seen all that, however there isn't any documentation referencing using the switcher in 1080i/p mode or 720p ... just curious ... not everyone is using their 4k for switching actual 4k i would venture to guess the majority of people who own one are still doing hd because there just isn't much out there that can give you a 4k signal yet.

Im doing a lot of IP based broadcasting in 4K at the moment and its a dream, only managed to get a 1080i 50 signal out of it at the moment, haven't found anything to change it with at the moment

i emailed them but have not head anything back yet ... when i have a chance i'll go setup a test our unit should be in soon.

Thank you for contacting us. The downconvert is only when you are in 4K mode and the output is only 1080i59.94, there are no options. and you cannot downconvert a 1080 signal to 720 or SD... it's only from 4K to 1080i59.94.

that is the response i got from tech support ... just an fyi ... this is very very disappointing and frustrating, it was one of the really great things about the original bmd atem line 1me and 2me you had a sd and analog out ...

perhaps this is something they can work on in a firmware upgrade ... but more likely it will be like my ultrastudio4k that is the original version with only 1 thunderbolt oooh and 2 months later release the same box but with two thunderbolts !!! like it should have had to begin with !!!

great products but such a terrible development path on so many product lines
