Live Streaming 3rd Party Software for BM Television Studio

PostTue Oct 30, 2012 12:31 pm

What would be the best 3rd party software to use with the Blackmagic Television Studio for live streaming to a Wowza server? (i.e. Adobe Flash)
We are upgrading from a Tricaster Studio SD that had everything built in one box, to HD Blackmagic Television Studio so each component has to be integrated. It has no software to stream live. I know you can use streaming services like Livestream and Ustream with BM ATEM but we want to use our own server and avoid the ads and commercials since we are a church.
Your help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check out MXLight, it should do what you want:

If you can afford $45 per month you can sign up for the "new" livestream. Unlimited views / no ads.

Their livestream producer software directly supports then TVS output via USB 2. I believe it works on a Mac... But I'm not 100% sure on that (I use windows)

Yes we have tried Livestream "free" to test. It works pretty good. And we do pay now our Wowza host more than $49. But I guess the only thing is we are able to embed into our website and have our own player for $50/mo. We just need to find a software that will support ATEM. Wirecast when used the the BM Intensity Thunderbold will work with ATEM however there software is a little pricey $495 for the basic.

OK. I missed that you needed this to work on a MAC in your original post. It is a shame the New Livestream doesn't yet support embedding. That service would be ideal as no additional hardware would be needed.

So it sounds like you will need some kind of a hardware based capture device. Maybe an Intensity Shuttle or Intensity Pro card. Then you can use any software... including free encoders on MAC (Flash Media Live Encoder).

I do my stuff on PC's... so someone else will have to help you further.

New Livestream does support embedding now... Just not the free accounts.

So I checked the pricing.

Live embedding supported on the Pro version of the New Livestream = $399 per month. Still good value in my book for an ad-free unlimited use solution.

On-demand embedding supported on the Free/$49 per month versions. Ad free on both. Amazing value.
