What do I need to use resolve live with the pocket cinema camera? Would a mini monitor and mini recorder via HDMI work? Straight into my rMBP.

First and foremost, I want to refer you to the Resolve guidelines so you know exactly what your MBP needs to run the software.

Next would be the workflow. You can use a SD card in the camera and record to it then use that to upload to your laptop with a SD card reader. You can also take it directly from the BMPCC via the HDMI with the UltraStudio Mini Recorder.

If you need record and playback, you could also purchase the UltraStudio Express.

If Paul had a hdmi to sdi converter upstream into the mini recorder sdi would that work ?

I don't see why the SDI connectivity wouldn't work. As far as the HDMI support, the Mini Recorder does have HDMI and SDI inputs so it should work just as well.

Okay so I've done some more research on this and it appears that Resolve will only take a direct capture via SDI connection. So the other options are to capture with Media Express via the HDMI connection and then take it into Resolve, take the SD and transfer the file over into Resolve or you can get a HDMI->SDI Mini Converter. Hope this clears this up.

On the current date combination of BMPCC + UltraStudio Mini Recorder + MBP + DaVinci Resolve Live is working.
