DSK / lower thirds - Sample file ?

PostThu Nov 01, 2012 3:33 pm

Hi,

I am a newbie - We are using our BMD ATEM TVS for corporate live production of our webcasts. I am having some issues with the graphics we are using for our lower thirds. I do not have photo shop installed on the laptop we use for the switcher control, so can't use the photoshop export.

I am loading a TIFF image with layers into media 1, then creating a luma key for media 1. When I tie to the output ( even with clip and gain at extremes) the black area is still showing thru.

I beleive that there is an issue with the graphics I am using, perhaps the pure black layer is not correct.

Are there any sample lower third or luma key files available that I could use ?

If you are not using the psd plug-in. Files have to be TGA w/alpha.

There is Stinger and Corner Bug sample folders in the ATEM content.
Even though these do not work as clips on an ATEM Television Studio, you can load any one of these individual TGA files to your Media Player1 or 2!

Thank you for such rapid replies. I had completely mis-understood the layer, concept. I know realize that the alpha channel is the 'cut' out - for some reason I had expected that just having a black layer on it's own would have worked !

A black layer will work (called a luma key), that's actually how it was done before alpha channels. Though, alpha is better.
