Ultrastudio Express - multiple simultaneous inputs uStream

PostSun Nov 11, 2012 2:44 pm

I am new to streaming video and I need some information on the Ultrastudio Express that I can't find in the manual...

I need to stream two cameras (1 with SDI out and 1 with HDMI out) to uStream and I was planning on using Telestream Wirecast Pro but for I/O the Ultrastudio Express seems perfect...can anyone confirm if this unit can stream 2 inputs at the same time?

Thanks in advance!

No It can't stream 2 simultaneous streams, you'd need something like the ATEM TV Studio product or what I am using, the Sonnet Echo Express SE Thunderbolt chassis with a Decklink Duo card inside (it only allows 2 SDI inputs, but has Thunderbolt passthrough so I can add the Ultrastudio Express/Intensity Extreme onto it).
I currently use this setup (to allow 2 x SDI + 1 x HDMI cameras) into Wirecast.
The difference between my setup and the ATEM TV Studio switcher is that currently Wirecast can only see the switcher as "one camera" since the switching is done through the TVS software whereas my setup allows Wirecast to control each camera - take your pick.

Thanks so much for this response - I had expected that this would be the case but where is it quoted/described the maximum number of simultaneous streams that each product can accommodate?

I was thinking that I might need to invest in an PCIe/Thunderbolt expansion chassis together with one of the BMD Decklink products but I had also expected that if I chose the Duo, I'd be able to stream both SDI and HDMI at the same time (I have a client who only has 2 cameras in a venue but 1 is SDI and 1 is HDMI and I was hoping to avoid buying additional converter boxes).

thanks!

rafsanchez : U need multiple input card .. Ultrastudio cards have just one input .. U can select whitch input U need to stream in Control Panel .. Its usable for long switching .. We use it on one location .. From SDI is comming signal from switcher , where are 4 cameras .. When there is no transmission, we are switching to HDMI signal , where is connected popcornhour player , with static picture, where will be next transmission ..
If u need switch 2 cameras , like reagular switcher , This is not usable ..
