Ultrastudio 4k - 2 channel playback?

PostWed Jul 30, 2014 4:49 pm

I currently don't have a Ultrastudio 4k, but was interested if anyone had tried what I want to do. I am creating some graphics for a production coming up in AE. I am rendering out the 90-200 frame scenes in 1080 prores and then rendering out just the alpha channel for the same scene. I am curious to know if I could import the files as a 3D stereo linked pair to playout at the same time? Basically this would allow a Key+Fill to be played back and keyed in our switcher. Thanks!!

I don't even think you need to do that. The Ultrastudio 4k was designed for Key+Fill signaling. If you set your After Effects to ProRes 4444 and "Millions of Colors+" (make sure it has the plus) then the 4k will output separate key and fill signals out of it's 2 bnc ports.

You can use a software which supports key and fill output such as CasperCG or OnTheAirVideoExpress - then any file with embedded alpha channel will playout with its key signal on the B output.
