By the way you say "It's the EXACT SAME THING" when clearly it is not. The ip address is of course different than the IP address of your Windows PC.

This is partly why I've found trying to support you in getting this resolved to be more difficult than it should be. Imprecise or factually incorrect responses have meant that we've had to double check things.

So at this point.. if all you have is a LAN cable connecting from your ATEM to the Windows PC (nothing else in-between - like a switch/hub) and you still cannot connect to the ATEM using the ATEM Software Control running on the Windows PC - and you've configured the ATEM Software Control to the IP address of the ATEM which is 192.168.10.240 then perhaps this does mean you have a physical issue with the ATEM's ethernet port.

At this point I would recommend you make direct contact with Blackmagic support for your region. The numbers are on the web site.

So sorry after all this time we didn't get it resolved.

Good luck with the next steps.

And the same ping result when you do this with the windows machine rather than the Mac? Or is the windows PC "far away" as you mentioned before.

Umm... oh dear. I still wonder if there is not something really simple that is being missed.

Ping FROM the Windows machine TO the ATEM.

e.g. bring up the cmd prompt on the Windows machine and type

ping 192.168.10.240

and to be clear (repeating myself for about the third time). The ONLY things that should be connected is the Windows Ethernet port and the ATEM Ethernet port with either of those Ethernet cables (Cat 5 or 6)

you need to be pinging the ip of the switcher - these results are from 2 separate IPs.

what is your switcher ip?

Can you ping it?

if it doesn't respond to ping then you have a hardware issue.

your switcher is broken.

try and downgrade then up grade its firmware. if this doesn't fix it then call blackmagic support for an RMA replacement.

Tom is probably correct. However.. I was asking you to try your ping FROM the windows box TO the ATEM... Not from the Mac (which we already saw). Is there a reason why you cannot do that? (My thinking on that was because your Mac config was totally messed up before).

ALSO...you don't have to post more than a few ines from the Ping test... If it doesn't connect... We can see that on the first couple of lines.

Just to verify addresses you go into your router, go to status, then dhcp table and look at the ip addresses on the system. This would verify what IP address is assigned to what piece of equipment.

i thought i posted that before... it was doing the same thing on the windows side as well ... im just about to downgrade this to 6.0 and see whats up. i have also alerted the supplier that there could be a possible fault with the machine so i am told to send a mail to them once it is confirmed because he still wants me to try out one of his ethernet cables before final verdict.

UPDATE!!!

So after about two months of waiting for a new switcher the BM authorized dealers called me to say that BM was sending back the same one and that it was now working. i just got it back 2 days ago and tried it out, low and behold it just worked as simple as anything simple and it got me wondering how simplicity got so wrong two months back. Well i asked the BM authorized dealer what went wrong and i was told that it could have being a software issue but was not a hardware problem. i had no choice but to take his words. at least the same ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K that gave me and a lot of us here in this side of my life a huge problem is not working smoothly as if nothing happened. Just said i should give you all the update i said i would and also to Thank you all again for all the time and contribution you all added to my boring life :)

Yeah Rodolfo your best bet is to first return it to where you got it from and see what happens from there.

Yeah MambaFiber really sad but i really blame it on the way it was handled by the authorized reseller in my area.. they got me all confused and i really don't want to blame it on the BMD guys because i dont know if the guys in my area where fully truthful to me during the two months of waiting. I know for a good fact that the BMD guys in the UK have been very helpful to me in the past for sure.

Do not return the switcher to dealer, it simply adds an additional level of delay. Deal direct with blackmagic. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/contact/phone
