Optical compatibility with Broadcast Video Hub 72

PostTue Dec 11, 2012 10:23 pm

We have a Broadcast VideoHub 72 with Optical cards. what devices are compatible with the optical cards?

Is the router optical format not relavent as long as the TX and RX external devices are compatibly matched?

Does it matter whether its Single Mode or Multimode?

Let me know, Thanks,
Gary

from what i understand since they are SMPTE compliant devices any device which can rx/tx on the same wavelength should work just fine. I would imagine they would be the same as the OpenGear cards/MiniConverters/Camera Converters ...

As for single mode/multi mode ... its been pretty well documented on the forum that the other devices are single mode ... but multi mode fiber will pass signal ... just not very far at all.

see below just found the thread:

Although someone from BMD would need to confirm.

Hi Gary,

Brian is correct. The modules are SMPTE compliant and work with most single mode 1310nm fiber modules.

Using multi mode cable will greatly reduce the Rx/Tx distance to about 300 meters.
