dual hdmi over thunderbolt

PostWed Dec 12, 2012 10:29 pm

Hi!

Running on the latest MacBook Pro retina 15, we want to stream two simultaneous hdmi inputs from cameras into a custom-developed application which uses the ffmpeg library. It is a live vjing application, so we don't care to record the streams to disk, only to mix them and display them. Is this possible with any of your current thunderbolt hardware, e.g. If we buy two intensity devices? Thank you!

Best,
Ilias b

you'll need 3 devices
  • one ultrastudio 3D (has 2 SDI inputs)
  • 2 hdmi->sdi converters

The Ultrastudio 3D can only capture one stream at a time, the 2nd port is used for 2K and 3D.

Hi!

That is the option I was initially considering, but then I came across this post saying that is in fact not the case: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/124/875862

Not on here, but by a blackmagic representative.

Is the above use of the ultrastudio 3d possible with two fully independent cameras, that are not genlocked together? See this thread: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/124/878641#878687

Because we will not be using genlock with ours...

Thanks!

I think I found a solution that doesn't require the cameras to be genlocked!

A blackmagic decklink duo, in a Sonnett box. It says here they're compatible: http://www.sonnettech.com/support/chart ... processing
