Keys 3 & 4 ATEM

I'm trying to find an answer for using Key 3 & Key 4 on the ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K. They are always greyed out on the app and do nothing on the 2 M/E switcher panel. The manual explains how to use them but I can't use them at all. The blackmagic website lists that there are 4 upstream keys, but it doesn't say if that is total for the switcher or per M/E. Any answers would be appreciated.

The 4 upstream keys on the ATEM 2 M/E are split so that 2 of them are on M/E 1 and the other 2 are on M/E 2. You cannot switch them all to be used on the same M/E

But you can setup a key in the ME2 bank, and select it up in ME1 as the source.

I'm not sure why they even put the key 3 & 4 buttons on there, when you can't use them. Both ME's use the key 1 & 2 buttons, totaling 4 keys.

Really an unpleasant surprise when firing up our new 2 M/E. I read the specifications saying that there is 4 upstream keys available and of course anticipated all of them being available in the mixer, just as on our old 1 M/E.

Is there really no workaround to run 4 USK in the same mixer?

As stated above, you can upstream key in one M/E and select that M/E as the source in the other. You can then key more on that M/E. It is upstream, and it is there, but not exactly in the way you might like.

Thanks Scott! I'll look into that. And since supersource doesn't require it's own usk I think the two will be enough for most of our needs.
