Sdi outputs on mini converter

PostSat Jan 12, 2013 2:43 am

On the HDMI to sdi mini converter, can I use the loop output to send my video to a sdi to analog converter? I would like to send one output to the ATEM TVS and the other to an analog switcher via this second converter. Will this work?

Re: Sdi outputs on mini converter causing video delays

I have two cameras going into a video switcher through hdmi and an hdmi output from the switcher converted to sdI going into a blue ray recorder then going into a monitor, the video signal is delayed by many frames. How can I fix it? Any advice would really help. Thank you.

Which switcher are you using? ATEM switchers are known for their usually very small delay. Typically with cameras that are not genlocked it could be as low as 1 frame.
By "converted to SDI" is that done by the switcher or do you have a converter box doing that?
Are the two cameras identical?
What are they?
Some (cheaper) cameras have a delay on their HDMI output.

The more info you give.. The better the response.

Since all the things you told us about in the chain introduces a delay it is impossible if you don't split from the beginning.

Since HDMI is not genlocked you get framestore, adding delay.
The ATEM processing adds delay
The bluray recorder adds delay.

To avoid delay on the monitor you will have to split where the camera comes in or before the bluray recorder.
