Getting USB 3.0 working

PostSat Jan 12, 2013 5:13 pm

I have a new system. Its currently on version 3.3. My sony vaio laptops crash immediately upon connecting the usb 3.0 cable. Would like to remedy this issue. Where do I start? I am running windows 8 and am still working on figuring out where things are.

I have not received any replies on the issue. Either I was missed or this is a touchy issue at BMD and they don't have an answer that they think I don't want to hear. I have had the me 1 for a week. Get the sd output and the 60hz working correctly at the same time and improve the usb 3.0 functionality and I would be one very happy camper.

This is not actually a support forum... so if you need specific support from Black Magic - call them.

Well as far as i know at this moment windows 8 does not work with BMD products!!

As always, if windows brings a new version it takes about 1 year before most companies have adapted to the new OS.

Also USB 3 is a big trouble maker!! Check the documents in the support section how to update your USB drivers IF you have renesas chip. IF you don't have a renesas chipset. Good luck because 95% change you never going to get it to work....

As I've stated in another post, you cannot update USB drivers in Windows 8. Microsoft locked it down for the time being. I'd suggest going back to Windows 7.

Well the consensus is the problem is a windows side issue more than a bmd one. Ill just have to wait it out it appears. Its a bit dissappointing but not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things. Ill be capturing via sdi come next year and I may pick up a tvs to take on the road as well. It can serve my streaming needs if i need it to. Being a glass half full kind of guy, I do like my atem me1. It does a great job at a great price and I look forward to installing it this week. Thanks to everyone with help and opinions with this matter.
