Placing an HDMI switcher before TVS input?

PostThu Feb 07, 2013 3:04 am

Here is what I'm trying to do.

We are hosting a Gaming Tournament. It is a 4v4 Halo tournament.
So there will be 8 TVs/Xboxs

I would love to be able to show footage from each player through the TVS.
So I would like to setup an HDMI switcher before the feed goes into the TVS.

Since the TVS only has 4 HDMI inputs I cant show all the players with just it. Plus 2 Cameras take up 2 ports. So basically I have 2 open ports on the TVS(Don't want to deal with SDI because too expensive to convert)

Here is an example. I tried using a simple cheap switcher i bought online and the ATEM never shows anything. but if i plug switcher into a TV it works. All of the items going into the switcher all work by them selves in the ATEM if plugged direct.

What resolution and frame rate do you use?

I'm working with 720p50 in Europe and the XBOX seems to output this while in the menu. When I enter a game it changes to 720p60 (It was rockband I think). So I ended up with 720p59.94 for the event I've had an XBOX.

Perhaps you can force the XBOX with an EDID emulator. But I didn't have one at this time...
