SDI inputs 1080p/60

PostSun Sep 18, 2016 6:22 pm

I have a new Production Studio 4K and have an SDI camera set to 1080P/60. If I route the camera through an SDI to HDMI micro converter, I get an image. When I go directly into an SDI input, nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advanc

UPDATE.....The camera I have issues with is a Marshall CV340 SDI camera. When I use a Sony Camcorder with an SDI out, works fine. So it sounds like an issue with the Marshall camera but I'm curious as to why I can take the Marshall cameras SDI cable out of the switchers input and route it through a micro SDI to HDMI and see signal.

Sounds like it might be the frame rate on the camera although the micro converter shouldn't be changing it.

From what I Google'd the CV340-CSB does 1080i/59.94. You need to make sure your switcher is set exactly to this. All your inputs need to be the exact same resolution and frame rate that you set as your output or they won't work. All ATEM switchers work this way. They don't do any type of scaling. Sometimes the HDMI inputs on ATEM switchers are little more forgiving when it comes to 59.94 or 60 frame rates. Other times they aren't.

Is your switcher firmware current? 1080p60/59.94 requires 3G SDI, and earlier versions of the firmware only supported 3G Level B. It may be possible that the camera outputs Level A.

Scott; I'm very impressed on using an original CV340-CSB cameras. It may be PID on those early Marshall cameras, Marshall didn't start adding HD/3G PID until later models. Send me an email and I'll help you get into a new CV343-CSB model.

I don't own any CV340-CSB cameras. I do own a few Marshall CV200-MB lipstick cams though.
