Multi-Channel Input and 1080p60 with Intensity Shuttle TB

PostSat Sep 01, 2012 11:42 am

the tech-sheet says that the intensity shuttle thunderbolt can capture up to 8 channels of audio. when i connect it to my xbox360 i only get 2 channels. so how do i capture the full 5.1 audio?

when the intensity shuttle thunderbolt was announced it said it would support 1080p with 60 fps. when it was released bm quickly changed the tech-sheet to max 1080p30 capture capability. after asking through email it was said that the intensity shuttle thunderbolt can actually capture at 1080p60 which will be enabled in a firmware update. this was a few months ago and there is still no 1080p60 support.
when will you guys roll this out?

Regarding 5.1, more than likely the X-Box is sending the Dolby Digital signal (AC-3) over HDMI, which the Shuttle will ignore. I don't have an X-Box, but see if you can send uncompressed 5.1 over HDMI, should/may be a setting for it.

i just checked the settings of the shuttle tb and in media express i can select 1080p at 60fps - see screenshot below. however, if i set the output of my xbox to 1080p i wont get anything. any resolution below it works. so bmd needs to enable the input to take full advantage of the shuttle thunderbolt

Correct, to get the multichannels you'd have to have a device to send out the signals decoded or LPCM. The Xbox is not capable of this in Dolby mode. It either does stereo uncompressed or outputs an encoded Dolby stream.

why don't i see 1080p60 in my settings? i just downloaded Desktop Video 9.6.8 for Macintosh and can't see 1080p60fps in any settings, I've just installed this on my new Mac Mini, I also have a iMac that i can see this on?! Is it possible that I need to go onto that iMac and check the version number and uninstall and rollback to that?!

this intensity shuttle tb has been nothing but a headache to get working, the stars have to align in a perfect way.

*EDIT!! : Solution found!

I just rolled back to version 9.6 of the Desktop Video drivers, and now I can see 1080p60fps on the drop down as a Video Standard option. As a side note, i was using version A1388 for the Apple Digital AV Adapter, which i saw if you don't have 2nd generation of this connector (version A1422) you cannot capture at anything but 720p60fps, for whatever reason, the combination of version 9.6 of the Desktop Video drivers and the A1388 connector seems to do the trick. The stars must align!! seriously.

I love answering my own forum posts, ugh!

i tried that too, since the latest versions dropped the 1080p with 60fps. but i couldn't get any video and audio, like i mentioned a few months ago.

seriously bmd, when do you enable 60fps in 1080p capture for the device. when it's capable of doing so, then it should do so!!!

and still no 1080p60 capture.

is it really that hard to enable a bloody feature the shuttle tb was build for?

Seriously....I work with video plenty enough to know 1080p60 isn't that insane in any matter! I'm not a high frame rate junky but some devices only output HD in 720p60, 1080i60 or 1080p60 flavours and 1080i is nasty! Would be cool if the Intensity Shuttle TB had a coaxial input too, digital audio and possibly Dolby and DTS support transcoded to LPCM.
