ATEM 1 and GoPro Hero 3

PostTue Feb 19, 2013 12:46 pm

I have a new Hero 3 Black set to 1080 50 output and it works great on HDMI input into Atem.
Put it into an HDMI-SDI converter and it doesnt! Anybody got any ideas? It has to be a UK Solution by the way!

Atems really work well, (we have 2 of them) + Hyperdeck and the product is dfantasic

Many thanks.

Just to add some more info. When I connect a HDMI camera to the converter box the lights that are by the 2 jack plugs are brigt. Whith the GoPro they are bright for 0.5 sec and then dim. It seems to be a problem of not seeing the HDMI properly. Doing upgrade to GoPro but can't understand why the camera is perfect straight into ATEM

I seem to be having a similar issue. HDMI out of the GoPro Hero3 straight to and HDMI input is 1080, but when put through the HDMI to SDI converter, it downconverts the signal to 480i. Is it possible that the Hero is outputting 30p and the BMD convertor only works with interlaced?

I have the same problem:

If I connect GoPro 3 directly through the HDMI connector to Atem 1080i50 works without problem. If I connect via HDMI Blackmagic Battery Converter HDMI - SDI, SD 576i50 I have an outlet.

I connected directly to a recorder GoPro NINJA 3 via HDMI 1080i50 and recognizes me.

I appreciate any help because I like to work through SDI 1080i50 and Battery Converter BlackMagic.

This is a known problem. The HMDI converter has issues with Gopro camera's. The problem seems to be with the EDID information of the Gopro combined with the converter. There are about 10 topic about this issue.

Some got it working some have 8 camera's and only 5 working. There is no definitive sollution yet.

I had the same problem but fixed it reasonably easily.

I found that the HDMI output from the GoPro seemed to be underpowered and that when I had the GoPro plugged into an iPad 10watt charger as opposed to a standard 5watt I had a clean signal over the HDMI to SDI MC.

Now I have no idea whether this is technically correct or not but it worked for me! Hope it helps :D

Might want to try putting an HDMI Detective inline. It solves most EDID problems - http://www.gefen.com/kvm/ext-hdmi-edidp ... od_id=8005

Go Pro Finally released their new update yesterday and it fixes issues with Go Pro 3's, they now output HD through the HDMI. Before they were only outputting HD when the go pro was in record mode.

Great Update for all of us! Tested and fully working on all of our go pros.

Jparker,

You mean the new Go Pro 3 update fixes the HDMI>SDI conversion in 1080i50 100% ??

Like mentioned in this video
that going to SDI only possible in 720P50 mode on the GoPro3... And the "power issue 5/10 volts" (earlier mentioned in this thread). Also read this http://www.tomguilmette.com/archives/3405
