Actively-Changing Lower Third

PostFri Dec 09, 2016 7:59 am

Hello Everyone,

We have an ATEM Television Studio and we are intending to use it with Live Control Software to mix about 4 different cameras. We are trying find a way to also mix in (while switching between cameras), a lower third that has text that changes. PowerPoint comes to mind to use to transition the text but is there a way to have that happening all the time while mixing between cameras?

Thank in advance for responses.

When you think about Powerpoint, why not try out CasparCG. I don't know, what kind of transitions are needed for the lower thirds, but you can do a lot of things. Do you want transitions directly between the lower thirds or an incoming and outgoing transition at begin and end of the lower third, but no direct cross fade ?

For calling ATEM macros, there is a versatile software named JustMacros.

The best is, with the software JustMacros, you can control CasparCG and ATEM mixers. So you could change camera and lower third at one keypress, which calls a macro.

If a hard cut would work, you could put all lower thirds into the media pool and call them with justmacros.

Somthere are different ways and ideas....

We are basically just doing live cross captioning with three languages: english coptic and arabic--but it's not text that we are typing live, but it will be available ahead of time. The only reason PowePoint is idealish, is to avoid problems with showing the script of arabic and coptic.

It may be very hard to just use the media pool since it will require 1000s of files, not including the order which does matter.

I'll look into CasperCG.
