Can I use Atem camera converter for this?

We installed a football video board at our high school and I need to get my program output from the Atem 1/ME to the computer that controls the video board. I chose to use the Atem camera converter to do this. It seems to work as long as the output from the switcher stays the same. When I switch camera feeds on the switcher the fiber converter looses the signal. Should I have just purchased the SDI-to-Fiber converter for this and not use the camera converter? To me they are the same thing and both should work. I got the camera converter because of portable streaming events we do which would allow us to use the camera converters to cover distances.

Any advice would be helpful.
