HYPERDECK MINI FIRMWARE FAULT

PostFri Feb 17, 2017 11:37 am

I had to return my Hyperdeck Mini as faulty as there was no input signal through the SDI input.

I've been told this morning that there is an issue with the Mini - if you press the jog button prior to the SDI input being attached, then the video may not appear for many minutes and indeed may require a power cycle before being available.

Has anyone else been told this or have you experienced problems like this? I don't want to accept delivery of the faulty unit again if no-one else is experiencing problems.

When you enter "playback"(jog being considered playback), pressing the stop button will leave you in play mode. Pressing the record button will return you to end to end. This is without a card inserted to the unit.

If you had a card inserted, pressing record again would then begin recording.

Hi Tony

What I've been told is there is a firmware fault where if no card is inserted and the jog button is pressed the unit will go "blind" on the SDI input for many minutes and may require a power recycle. This comes from the UK distributors Holden.

Are you at BMD aware of this problem?

They are reshipping the unit back to me because they are now out of stock and I need the unit for a job this coming week. I guess when it arrives on Monday I will see if the unit does work and the fault was as described.

i can confirm the unit works as Tony has described. with no card inserted pressing the REC button twice puts the unit back into E-E mode to see your input source. there is about a 2 second delay before this happens, but it will consistently come back to E-E with no card.

So, no firmware issue, just user 1D10T error. Good, thanks Tony. This is the kind of info that needs to be in the recorder's documentation/instructions to avoid issues like this.
Cheers
