Multichannel-Videos stutter at Decklink Quad 2

PostWed Mar 08, 2017 7:54 am

Hi Guys,

I tryed to use some 3rd party software to playout Videos on Decklink Quad 2.

I used to try TvVideoGrabber and VideoLab. Both components have been able to Capture on all 8 Inputs.
Also they have been able to playout 1 Video on 1 Output - smooth.

As soon I have started another (even the same) video on an another Output-Channel both Outputs are going into a slow motion effect. if 1 is finished the second is going to play in double speed for a while and then it runs normal, but as soon the Application trys to playout again a video on more than 1 Output it slows down. I was able to playout Videos parallel on all 8 Channels, but never saw them run smoothly.

I tryed to play them by using a normal system. Later I tryed an older but strong version of HP Z800. And finally I used the latest CAD Workstation. on all systems it was not running smoothly, when 1 used more than 1 Channel.

I have contacted the developer of the components, but did not getting back something.
So I wonder - Is there something I am doing wrong? Is the card really able to playout Videos in 1080i50 parallel on 8 Channels?

Thanks for your ideas and feedback

Is there something else I have to be aware?

Make sure you have it installed in a PCI-e 8x slot or better. Even though the length of the slot may be sufficient it may not have pins above a 4x so you need to check that. Also check the slot isn't shared with anything

Hi Adam,

thx for reply.

The card is installed in a full 16-Lane-Slot. So tis should be fine.
Is there any Software wich I could use to test all 8 outputs parallel with videos?

Maybe it´s the software I used. Even the MediExpress is only able to use 1 Channel. If I start 2 instance of this tool only the focused application is playing out something. Strange!

Try CasparCG - it can be configured for multistream output

if it was easy it wouldn't be called engineering

There is an option in Preferences which allows playback when in the background.

I see what you mean. Perfect.
Currently the card is not really working!
