Faulty Broadcast Panel

PostMon Mar 20, 2017 1:15 pm

The T-bar on my 1me broadcast panel has developed a fault where it doesn't do a full transition in one direction.

The panel is well out of warranty.

I take it that the T-bar has likely slipped on the potentiometer or some similar hardware fault?
Has anyone had any experience fixing this issue?

Thanks,

Tim

Hello Tim. Often this is caused by dirt getting in the assembly. Some have had luck turning the console upside down and using compressed air carefully to clean it out letting the dirt fall down outside. Hopefully this will help you.

Haha yep! I am originally a carpenter by trade so the Estwing is normally the first option rather than the last :D

I assumed the T-bar is connected to a potentiometer rather than fader?

I've always had more luck with this stuff on faders http://cpc.farnell.com/electrolube/eml2 ... /SAEML200F

Same issue happened to me. After shipping it back to the shop in a pelican case it started working properly. I suspect something got jammed inside the TBar slot.

Hi,

the T-bar on the Panels isn't connected to a potentionmeter. It is an optical based system. We had this issue with one of our panels. Complete disassambly and cleaning did the trick.

It's not really complicated to disassemble the unit but you need soe time because of the lot of screws.

Cheers

Good info. It's probably a bad idea to spray anything other than air into it then!

Glad that found the proper response. I had another hammer image in my cut/paste clipboard, then realized I had to go find an Estwing pic instead. That Stanley in my clipboard was not going to make the cut. Estwing are great hammers.
