Web Presenter vs MiniRecorder

PostWed Apr 05, 2017 8:08 pm

I currently use a MiniRecorder into my 2015 MBP. I was just researching the Web Presenter and I'm not sure what the difference is. Can someone smarter than me let me know what the Web Presenter may be a better choice?

I'm currently using with a Canon Vixia G40 and will also be using a Canon 80D in the near future.

Thanks!

It isn't a better choice. If you are happy with the minirecorder then stick with it.

I am using the Web Presenter but I am not confident I am getting a high enough bit rate out of the USB port. Even at 30fps movement is not fluid. I am using a Canon G40 with 8Mbps 1080p output, SDI to Web Presenter and USB to MBP.

Can anyone tell me what bit rate the Web Presenter is outputting on the USB port?

With this said I am thinking about switching to the Mini Recorder to insure the full bit rate goes into OBS.
