UltraStudio Express Output to other programs

We recently purchased the UltraStudio Express with the hope of doing some webcasting. I have been successful in hooking up my camcorder and getting into to show up in the log and capture portion of Media Express, however, it won't show up anywhere else and I'm not sure why. For example, in Photo Booth on the mac (just for testing input purposes), if I switch the camera to "Blackmagic Ultra Studio Express" option I only get a black screen. Similar happenings in all other programs such as Adobe Premiere. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
