PostSun Mar 10, 2013 5:34 pm

Hello everyone, im a new user of blackmagic design producs.

I have an atem television studio, with 3 cameras plugged in, an i have an analog mixer behgringer 3242fx with a blackmagic design analog to sdi converter, but it doesn't send signal to the atem tv studio.

What i need to convert the analog signal to sdi or how i have to setup the mini converter?

If you're trying to get audio into the TVS, you don't use an analog to SDI converter. You need an analog to AES converter.

You need something like the Behringer Ultracurve, this will convert the audio for you.

So, now that I have the Ultracurve how does one get the XLR converted to the BNC? Is it just a straight cable job or is some type on converter required?

The Behringer has AES output. However - it's AES output is presented through an XLR plug. So you need an XLR to Coax converter. I use a CANARE BCJ-XJ-TRC

Note: I primarily use my 1ME on most events... so the Behringers Analog XLR outputs are what I use then. However... it's great the unit has both Analog and AES. It makes it very versatile for my use.

Hi,

a simple cable XLR--->BNC works too.
But the Canare or the Neutrik converters are much more professional.

Cheers

Whilst short cable might work with a standard BNC to XLR there is an impedance mismatch wich will cause issue on longer cables. The Canare or the Neutrik converters have the correct impedance matching circuit which allows them to work with long cables.

Are you sure there is no way of making it work with the Analog to SDI converter?
I am in a urgent situation here. If it is not possible I have to find out a converter in 4 hours.

If you can get audio into your analogue to SDI convertor, you could then fade up that SDI input on the software audio mixer on the TVS.
