Headset for Studio Cameras

PostTue May 30, 2017 6:46 pm

I am trying to adapt an MH-300 RTS headset (4 pin) to work with the Studio Cameras that have the .25" and .206" aviation plugs.

I have the pinout and have purchased the plugs needed to make my own connector/adapters.

But when I connect the microphone, I barely get any audio out of the BlackMagic Studio Converter in my studio control. Maybe I am wiring it wrong, but I am not sure. I can hear program audio really well in the headset, but I cannot hear myself talking.

Here is the the RTS 4 pin pinout:
1 - MIC -
2 - MIC +
3 - SPK -
4 - R SPK L SPK
Case - MIC SHIELD

How would I wire in the 1/4" and .206" plugs for proper connection?

Thanks
Jason

RTS microphones are usually 200 Ohm impedance. Aviation ones (which the TVS HD expects) are 50 Ohms
Funny that this company calls out BMD as being one of the use cases for their aviation headset information page

So you would need some type of pre-amp for the RTS one to work. Shame there was not a configuration switch in the software and hardware to support either.
