TV HD keys

PostWed Jul 19, 2017 4:04 pm

Have been learning about our new TV Studio HD switcher this past week. And I like it very much.
Have not had much luck building templates for the Graphic Pool. Modifying the ATEM templates works though. I make a graphic with a .tga file and Alpha Channel but when I export the file, it is not accepted by the Graphic Pool.
Any ideas?

Alpha Channels (in save window) is ticked
32 bit/pixel in Options Dialogue box that pops up after you hit save

Also make sure that the resolution of the TGA files match the resolution (video standard) the ATEM is set to use and that the TGA files do not use RLE compression.

The File --> Send to ATEM within Photoshop works great to overcome these things. A few less steps as well.

Thanks guys, good information. Finally brought the switcher into the den and hooked it up to my iMac.
Much more convenient. Using your info and a trip to YouTube cleared up my issue. I was missing a step
in Photoshop. Also learned you can use .png files.
I am amazed by this switcher. It does nice clean keys, and with transparency if you want. We will be using it in our church with a Hyperdeck mini. Thanks for your input.

TGA files have more bits for alpha channel but are much bigger. The trick to getting them to work is to save without compression (most applications default to using run length encoding on the TGA file which is not supported by the ATEM).
