I'm also unclear if they up/down/cross convert which is the real strength of the decimator imo

No this cheaper version only does hdmi to sdi and sdi to hdmi at the same time. There is no scaler inside!!
This unit is just build to have a way more cheaper unit to do simple hardware conversion. Just to have a cheap alternative to the Chinese converters that are flooding the Market.
If you need conversion MD-HX is your cheapest alternative!

Not the most reliable, caused an occasional flicker on screen.

For me, the real value is in converting 3G SDI Level B to Level A or vice-versa.

Have not have issues yet with them. Flikkering is often caused by errors in the signal. These errors can occuer with a too long cable or bad cable. So could be a lot of Things ;)

Hi all,

Im new to the forum and new to the video side of our business and I am looking at ways of linking several TVs together for small conference work.

I have seen the Decimator MD-LX but been recommended to stick to the blackmagic Micro.

Any advice please?

Will get i get any delay in the image by say going from a macbook pro / laptop to a either a MD-LX or a Micro-converter, and then SDI to where my screens are and then either loop through by sticking either an MD-LX or Micro- convertor on each TV/Display?

Will the last TV get a huge delay (as in delay each monitor i connect and when I get to the last one its very bad??)

Someone recommended sticking a 1:8 SDI 4K Distribution to the middle of the TVs and then go to each one from there - will stop the delay ?

I do have the budget to get the larger SDI to HDMI 4K Converters (and HDMI to SDI 4K) also, but not sure if I will need this for just linking TVs?

Any help will be really appreciated - thanks all.
